IIT Gandhinagar is one among the new IITs started from 2008-09. A major advantage of this IIT is its location near Ahmedabad which is known for excelled infrastructure, industries, prestigious academic and research institute and also encourages excellence and entrepreneurship.

Currently the institute is functioning from the premises of the Vishwakarma Government Engineering College. The Institute has excellent facilities in terms of classroom, laboratories, offices, etc.

IIT Gandhinagar is being mentored by IIT Bombay. The institute has already recruited some outstanding faculty members.

Location of the Institute:

Temporary campus is located in the Chandkheda on Visat-Gandhinagar Highway, nearly 10km from Ahmedabad airport and 14km from Ahmedabad Railway station. The most common transportation is an autorikshaw.

All sort of amenities are present within the periphery of the Institute. A post office is located within walking distance from the Institute. There are several banks within half a kilometer radius from the college./P>

There are numerous terminals with adequate internet facilities and a computer laboratory operating within the premises. Student's hostel also has been equipped with wifi internet facility. The first and second year laboratories are in place. Teaching laboratories for the third year are currently being set up.

Books that are required as texts and references are available in the library. Food service has been outsourced to a top caterer. Grounds are available for football, cricket, volleyball and basketball. Facilities for indoor games such as badminton and table-tennis have also been mad available. A modern multi-purpose gym is also available along with gym instructions.

The Institute has also made suitable arrangements with top hospitals in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar for cases requiring hospitalization.
